Astronauts

aberration. noun. ab·er·ra·tion ˌab-ə-ˈrā-shən. 1. : the act of differing especially from a moral standard or normal state (Merriam-Webster).
I have a story in my head- an astronaut crash-lands on a distant planet, ship completely destroyed. He stumbles out of the wreckage, makes it a good hundred feet, then his suit malfunctions and he explodes. The residents of the planet, an alien race with the vestigal ability to mimic things around them, are trying desperately to conform to this new information. A charred hand here, some circuitry there, but ultimately the dataset is incomplete. They will never fully understand what it is they are mimicking, so they will never be able to fully mimic it.
This is, of course, a thinly veiled metaphor for autism (or social anxiety, or derealization, or or or). This is, also, my senior project. I'm on astronaut lockdown for a semester.
